Details of the 2025 Wilberforce Academy
The Wilberforce Academy Residential Week will be held from 19-24 January 2025 at a conference venue near Hermanus, Western Cape. Specific details will be communicated to successful applicants by the end of November 2024.
The Academy year also includes three quarterly Refocus Days – one day in the months of April, July and October.
The Refocus Days can be attended in person in one of the four regional hubs or virtually. Exact dates will be communicated during the Residential Week in January.
COSTS
The Wilberforce Academy is a subsidised programme. The cost of the Residential Week is R7,500 per delegate (including accommodation, meals and teaching for the week).
Payment for the Residential Week is due before the Week commences in January 2025 – by no later than 12 January 2025.
For successful applicants who choose not to make use of their own transport, transport options will be made available form Cape Town International Airport (direct), Stellenbosch (via Somerset West), and Worcester. These transport options will travel to the venue before, and back to their original destinations after the Residential Week.
IMPORTANT: Depending on individual applicants’ circumstances, it may be advisable to start saving as soon as possible towards the attendance fee of the Academy Week in January.
DISCOUNT AND SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Discount for delegates making use of own transport
Delegates who will make use of their own transport to travel to and from the conference venue, and during the Residential Week, will receive a R1,000 discount on the Academy attendance fee.
Scholarship Opportunities
There is a total of 10 scholarships available for the 2025 Wilberforce Academy – FIVE (5) full scholarships, as well as FIVE (5) half scholarships. Interested candidates are invited to include a motivation to be awarded either a full or half scholarship in their application forms.

On June 19 2024, a team of seven from South Africa, Lesotho and the United Kingdom travelled to Namibia to present a Wilberforce Academy (WA) pilot programme – the first of its kind in Africa outside of South Africa.
